The problem is seriously odd. Had three glorious days of lag free play then it went to hell about 12 hours before the exp event. Tried the event anyway and got the odd hour when it was not too bad even though I was reduced to killing crap noobs mobs as anything else killed me in the lag but I had about 200 lag outs (I kid you not ask anyone in guild). If this new 32 bit OS sorts it then those who suffer now (and those who tried LR but left) will have a great place to play.
More power to your elbow Jamie.
We decided here yesterday to put another line into the house and set up an alternate ISP (happy to be advised which other than AOL) so we can switch providers if they fek up (and to isolate the AOL bit of the current problem just to check it out) as it is the only thing we have not yet tried. It will mean throwing away ?270 of the existing AOL contract and incurring the extra start up costs from BT and ISP etc so not a cheap option. This was until Jamie shouted in game that he was changing the OS so I'll wait and try that first.
But it will be useful to have another ISP to fall back onto.
Penny (should be 46 - still stuck at a very lagged 44)
Sorry slightly of-topic but to advise Penny
Try Plus.net
They have a gaming broadband package which promises low pings and stable connection - hense what gaming requires.
From their site:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Quality broadband with low ping and latency - great for gamers
If you're into gaming, you'll want a reliable and stable broadband connection.
You don't want to get fragged because of lag."
