lagggg is gone

before when i spawned 100 mob and killed them i lagged really bad (thought it was my pc)

after reboot spawned 200 mobs killed them all no lag.

upgrade ur net, d/l different servers 2.3 client find 1 on lomcn u cud use oldskool stick exe and server.ini in and see if ur still lagging

tried all - theres a couple of posts that list all the things that have been tried - please have a look about before suggesting the same ideas again ^^


ill find it and you can see if you can think of any obscure ideas that we might of missed.

Checked and reloaded clients
Tried other clients - also tried other EXEs
Also had a brand new EXE created specifically for us.
Autopatched several times
D/L full file set and replaced in new folder set on each pc
Checked firmware in router
Swapped router
Rebooted entire system repeatedly
Removed router and connected direct via Modem (every pc in turn)
Run network with only one pc on (trying all in turn)
Checked ISP who can find no problem
Checked BT who can find no problem
Changed splitter
Checked not on secondary telephone connection point
Checked other lagging users/players ISP and OSs and found no common denominators (see lag thread)
Checked Cable and DSL common denominators of lagging and noin lagging players- none found
Checked time of day problem occurs - but problem timing is inconsistant
Checked with and without pets and with pets seems worse
Seems to kick in almost instantly after getting rental pets often but not always
Checked if lag kicks in when chars log on - inconsistant results
Frequently seems to kick in when picking stuff off floor but could be coincidence as it happens so often
Happens from other locations using laptops as well as here with PCs
Other players report the problem from work but not from home
Reboots make no difference although play straight afterwards seems good for a while
When server firewall was turned off had 3 days of lag free play (see lag post for details) but then it started again and Jamie said he didnt change anything
Usually have three PCs online at same time but
- sometimes all three chars lag together
- sometimes just one lags
- sometime one will d/c while others lag or don't lag
- high levels of magic use seem to increase the problem but not always
- the spec of the pc makes no difference to the problems
As i type this I have two test mners working (the background noise and action allows me to hear instantly the lag lag kicks in)
- HiHo (miner) is lagged and not moving - Booty4 is mining away happily and his screen shows that HiHo just d/c'd
- both are doing exactly the same task - one lags and D/Cd, other doesn't

I probably missed some stuff but thats a basic run down

The problem - When the lag kicks in - the chars freeze, sometimes you get to see the mobs hitting you but other times you can be frozen for over one minute and then you get the 'catch up' (often with you often dead in the middle).

You can log out while lagged in mobs (no "Fight msg") and log back on but often the log on msg will be accompanied by Connection Closed, occasionally (rarely) you get the Fatal Error (even though you did not d/c) other times you simply cannot get back on and when you check on another PC you find you are still in game but the mobs dont hit you sometimes and other time they kill you even though you are disconnected from the server.

The server has other non related lag problems which I find hard to differentiate here (spikes, crashes or whatever they are) and the above may have a little bit of that mixed in with my comments as I cannot tell which is which.

Vigilante is convinced he knows what area of the server set up is responsible for the problem and feels he could probably fix it but last i heard he had not been given access for whatever reason and hasnt been in game now for a while that i have seen.

Anyone with any other ideas that WE could try please chip in cos we will try anything.

The problem is with this LR server only, and with 1.9 server but only after Jamie started hosting it. It does not occur on HR or any other server for that matter. We have no other known internet conenction problem at all.

Well its a long shot but download OldSkool's server client and put in your exe and server.ini files andy had this problem and he fixed it fine so just try it , if not nm.

Had a couple of spikes (one big one small) when the mobs were spawning across the server and it occured to me that maybe the resources of the server ruinning LR might be struggling to run the spawn rate that was developed for HR but as only some players lag this did not seem to make a bvunch of sense but thought i would ask

Will give a more detailed feedback when we have had time to assess but currently a damn sight better than it was this morning (but does tend to be better after a boot).

Got a miner swinging away in the background so I hear the moment he misses a beat and he has nice constant rhythm donk donk donk atm

Edit - now 45 minutes on its been as good as gold odd tiny bit of lag as you would expect on any server but so far the freeze, lag/dc/die is not happening. I have even put some decent kit on!! Off to try levelling a while now and test constant play.
