My Current Problem =[

Silencer told me to post this on forum so thought i may as well.

My OS is Vista Premium, which is probobly where you problem is coming from, but oh well.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, The screen (which is grey on there) flashes between black and grey and keeps going full screen and then back to the size shown in the screenshot.

try using alt tab to select mir

i had that problem in vista, i ran it in xp compatibility mode as an admin and it fixed it, hopefully this will help you

i got this problem on xp pro, doesnt matter what i do cant get it working, no matter wat server even official euro exe does it

You know I had this problem (and still do to an extent)... it was ok to run mir in vista ultimate then I installed the new directX and the proper gfx direct3d drivers and then that same problem happened, so I rolled it back to before I installed all that.. and it worked. BUT mir wont run with proper gfx drivers in and updated... so I must blame issues with tha and direct3d - however I haven't got to the bottom of it yet - been busy,

yup i've had this problem on 3 different XP Pro machines - different graphics cards different directX over multiple servers mir 2 1.4/1.9/2.3 and the problem still happens to this very day (last night infact)

it occours when flicking between characters as mentioned above - in addition to this problem i occasionally get the graphics flicking to a random colour setup/ the text box and other open buttons disappear.

as mentioned i've never worked out how to 100% curse the problem but i try to run mir in 256 colours and try to make all the settings mimic an older computer as mir was created nearly 8 years ago (which is about 16 computer life times with todays technology advancement speeds.)

^.^ its most frustrating when you have pets on the account thats giving the grey screen ^.^ the trick seems to be dont leave it minimised for to long (but saying that just flicking it down and back up can make the colours go all funky)

I think it's my graphics card, and i can't actually get into the game :L

so i dunno if it does happen when i switch characters.

hmmmmm.... if it happens the moment you load the game that is a bit strange.

let me see what i can dig up.


well from what i can find mir should work on Vista Prem. the only vista that should fail to load it would be vista basic. (you might want to check that you havent been stitched up and got given basic instead of premium )

seeing as we have had other weird ass problems down to the sounds crad and other random bits i seem to remember that mir should run with no software/hardware acceleration of any kind. so try this one (this is actually a fix that stopped battlefield2xxx from dropping to a grey screen after its intro video. - it might not have any relevance but you never know )

# Click Start.

# Type in DXDIAG into the available text field, and press OK.
# Once the DirectX Diagnostic tool has loaded, click on the Sound tab.

1. This tab will show you your sound device and drivers.
2. Warning: Should this tab be blank, refer to your computer manufacturer for the proper sound drivers.

# In the DirectX Features section, adjust the slide bar from where it is currently to Basic acceleration.

1. Warning: This may disable advanced audio features which worked previously in other games. Should you notice a negative change in any other game, simply change the acceleration level back to where it was or to Full Acceleration.

# Click the Exit button.
