Christmas Raffle!??

First of all a big N1 on event staff, loving it

As we all know the gms love doing extra work during events so heres an idea for just a lil bit more

some sort of forum/game based raffle. rough idea of how it would work.

gm comes up with 3 prize ideas, 1st 2nd and 3rd
then ppl have a set amount of time (say a week) to post on forum how many raffle tickets they would like to buy (limited per person)
then at certain pre warned times in a week a gm would be online to take money and write name down on a list and how many tickets that person has.
then raffle drawn and 3 ppl get prizes =)

things to think bout it if its gunna be done: prizes, cost of tickets, basic rules to stop ppl making a mockery of a festival raffle =)

this is just a random idea i had, if its too much of a ballache to do or just considered a poo idea then i wont take offence

i like it ^.^ at home on the wall we have a sheet of paper which is titled "Small Event Ideas" im sure we can add this to the list so

we could actually make it fairly straight forward -

an npc to buy your ticket from which then adds your name to a "NameList" which means we can then grab the list in one go

(that is if you can actually add a name to a name list multiple times - i assume you can by looking at the hr token event )ill do some research on it :P

sweet thats even better, was trying to think of the simplest way of doing it and ended up just making it complicated and confusing myself

well having the name list would be the quickest way of collecting the names, then it would be a job of pasting them into Excel, Printing, Chopping up and then selecting from a hat ^.^ so it wouldnt be to bad as long as people havent bought 1000 tickets each ^.^

make it mil a ticket and max of say 25 tickets per char? if prizes are good its a sure fire way of getting 25 mil off all the main players in game, so roughly 500mil gold off server

instead of putting a limit on the amount of tickets you can buy i would prefer to say something like you are only able to win one prize each draw - so someone could spend 200mil and get 200 entrys but if the name is pulled out once then the other 199 get removed aswell for the remainder of that weeks draw (if that makes sense)

that way we could start of with a couple of nice items which would remove larrrge amounts of cash in one go (and if someone spends all their cash on one draw, they wont have that option for next week )

UGH! You want to cut up the tickets? So stone age!! Why not just use the rand() function of excel to get a random number between 1 & the number of entries, the person on that row in excel is the winner?

oooo smarty pants :P (lol i didnt realise excel had a random function >.<)

i just had word from lapta about the name lists and unfortunately you can only have one name per list, but we could have multiple lists so we should probably add a limit to it as kong suggested

soooo what should the limit be? 3/5/10/50?

depends on price of tickets and prize availble. hows bout 5 raffles? well 5 npc's so u can enter each one once. have each on at a dif price, ie 500k / 1 mil / 5 mil/ 10 mil / 20 mil
have a prize for each, obviously the 20 mil one would be a bigger prize.
