This is not a server problem. Its is a internet problem.
Yesterday the "server crashed" and 10 - 20 people got lagged out, and couldnt get on. At the same time the "server crashed" on extreme and 10 - 20 people lagged out and couldnt get on.
The server didnt crash. Here is wat happened...
Just a quick run down on how the internet works.
The intertnet is millions of pc's/hubs/switchs all talking to each other via telephone cables (people on virgin media use cable not telephone cable) Data flows fine 24/7.
The internet wasnt built for online games, it was built for the flow of data between PC's.
Any way, all this cable, all these PC's etc, from time to time they need to be upgraded, rebooted repaired. This dosn't effect 99% of the world who are using the internet, as there data is routed to someone else in the world so the website still shows up.
However with mir, when a pc/switch/hug gose down for a few minutes, and your data is rerouted, your account times out, this is how the server files are writen, your data from your PC to the server has taken to long to be veriflied, so there for you lag out, and when you try to connect again it says connection closed.
This effects people in many differant ways. 2 people who live next door to each other, on on a BT line (any ISP) one on virgin media, one lags out, the other stays online, the one that lags out gets connection close, the other is still playing fine. This is due to the route of the data, in some cases 2 people both on BT but with differant ISP living very close together could have totally differant experinces. Its all about the route of your data.
and for people on virgin media, just cus you have a cable coming to your house for your internet, dont think you dont use BT lines, as you do. The data might be sent to your house from a virgin media server, but where do you think vrigin get there data from?
