Future changes

This should give you a general idea of how Evolution will be ran and the changes you're likely to see.

Jamie (Lapta) was too short on time to give Medium Rate the work it needed, because of this problems arose and they took too long to correct, along with too little communication, things steadily fell apart - This was unavoidable without more help/time. You'll have two dedicated people working on the server, as well as other people who're able to give us support when it's needed, Sekh's the computer boffin, so he'll be doing the majority of the behind-the-scenes work while I spend more time talking with all of you about what you like and what you dislike.

We'll be using brand new files, some of which you were able to test on the Beta Server, but they'll be much more up to date as we've got a newer database. So yes, you'll have the Assassin class and yes, you'll have lots of new things to fiddle with.

Jamie, Sekh and I all agreed that Medium Rate just didn't fit in well; If you wanted to play a server like Euro used to be, you play LR. If you wanted to play a quicker version of Euro, with higher stats, you played HR. Very few people wanted an in-between server, so we're carving our own niche this time around and I know your eyes are falling out from reading so much, so I want hold it back any further. We're going to be a 'new' version of High Rate; We'll have the same exp, we'll have newer files (I think they're getting some of them though) and we'll be more vocal, as there's double the man-power, giving us more time to do so.

Both Sekh and myself have experience GMing on other servers, but this will be our first time running one. As HollyWood has proven, new things don't necessarily fall flat on their face, fingers crossed we'll do as well as he has.

We'll keep you updated on how things are progressing, Jamie has agreed to put MR back up (as it currently is, nothing has changed, so I'll refer to it as MR or Medium Rate to make it clearer) as it's being paid for. Changes will be added at some point for you to try out (it might be a bit at a time, or it may be a lump sum), once everything is ready, we'll wipe the server and players will need to start over again, with the race to 50, 60 and so on. ^_^

Unfortunately you are correct, as he's said on the other thread, x4 being on for an entire week led to the server-ending problems that Medium Rate had (aside from lack of time being put in to it), the level gap is huge and aside from giving everyone a level 30-40 character, it means we'd have to develop the very beginning of the game as well as the very end at the same time. It'd also mean the fun of "First person to get Item/LevelX" is gone.

We should have no problem putting the characters on the Beta Server, so when it's put online to test changes, you can use them then. But this really is going to be a 'new' server (basically nothing from it is the same as Medium Rate - It's brand new files, new runners, new name, new concept... It's all changing).

Then don't play it, we're not asking you to. This is so there's a new 2.6 server where people get to start fresh, it'll also be a much heavier orientation around general fighting/PKing. HR's older players are so far ahead now that new players won't stand a chance in even getting close to them, if they prefer 2.3 and higher exp/drop rates, they'll go to Extreme, if they prefer 2.6 and lower exp/drop rates, they'll go to Evo.

There's over 500 active players, you can ask Jamie for an exact figure if you wish.

Ok so we wont be getting our characters back... but what about the money that we donated? There has to be some kind of rembursement of GG.. seriously. Sure i spent my time behind the computer to get my character to where she was, but i enjoy working for a good character. but i dont enjoy going to work, and thats where i make my money. We never lost the items, there still there. Thats why they should still be there, but as GG again. reguardless if people didn't donate at all, we would probably still be getting this new server, so my time and money will be lost just because the server wants a fresh start? that doesn't make sence and it isn't fair.

Again, I sympathize completely and can't do much other than apologise for mistakes that other people have made, a wipe is the only way to go about correcting past mistakes, but you've given me an interesting idea to refund some of the donations made.

Before reading the next paragraph, be aware that this isn't set in stone, this is something I'm willing to try to make work, if it can't be done, then it can't.

Let's not beat around the bush, people who donated are being kicked in the nads with this wipe, some more so than others, there's not much we can do in regards to character levels or items that people had dropped in that time, but it's feasible that we could return a fraction(1/3?) of the money donated, which we're able to find. Bear in mind that there's been various people receiving donations, so we can only find so many payments. I'll speak to Jamie when he gets back (an hour or so) about back-tracking previous payments and see what he can dig up, as long as he and Sekh agree, anything that he can find we can return in form of GG on the live realms. How does that sound?

opening more mir servers means more users have a choice meaning more people are catered for meaning more people will show up.

it also means another forum section with more links to mir revenge on it which means higher rankings in google.

it also means we can add another server to the top100 voting site meaning MR has a higher presences on the list prompting more people to the forums as a whole regardless of which server they decide to play on.

So in typical Jinx fashion he doesnt have a clue and im glad you banned him before i did :P

Theres probably no way that he can go back to look at alll the payments though, so why not just look at what the characters have that was dontated for. RobeOfMyth costed 13000 gg? any devil item was donated for as we never killed devil. It would be hard with heaven items as those did drop occationally. Not to mention the amout of times i used GG for 3x exp to boost my lvl. It just frustrates the hell outta me...

If there's anything we can do to find them, we'll do it. I know it's annoying as hell (I played Euro for 4 years+, don't get me started on loss ) and I'm really sorry that I can't just give everyone their characters back, but I know that in the long run, people who give us a chance won't regret it... I know this is asking a lot, after how many times you've all been let down in the past, which is why I'm so determined to make this server worth your loyalty.

There's no harm in asking him to look back at payments, I rarely use PayPal, but is there any way that you (the person who's paid Jamie/whoever) can prove that you've paid him? If so, everyone can just forward those on to us and we can go from there.

Items that were only gained via donations, yeah, no problem, but unless I'm mistaken, the main amount of donations were for bonus exp, pets and Heaven/Hell Items (which as you say, dropped/were given out in events, so can't be traced easily).

Well as someone who didn't play during 4x exp I'm abit miffed, but at the end of the day we have no say in the matter.

I hate PK, thats why I played mr in the first place so I will stay on LR regardless of what the old players are offered level wise.

Im just glad the gg npc was diabled on mr while I played it and that I didn't waste any real money on my chars.
