Extreme 100 linked events?

Prov and I were bouncing ideas back and forth about how we'll get people to feel inclined to vote for the server every 12 hours, every day. We came up with this:

Got a good plan to keep us damn high on the Extreme 100 list.

Double attack!

Firstly; We'll have a day, every single week, where players may click an NPC and get a free "Gift" for every day that we've been in the top 3 on the list, so if for 5 days we've been in the top 3, but for the other 2 we were 4th (or lower), they get 5 "Gift"s - These will contain a random item, something semi minor like free GP/exp tokens and so-so items. This means we have to check it every day, but I can set it as my home page and make a note of it every day, shouldn't be too much work (or is there an automated way for us to do it??).

Secondly: Events! Every evening we will have bonus event/s IF we're in the top 3 (or 4/5/whatever), I want to do an event every day, but some kind of bonus event for being in the top 3/4/5/whatever, to push people to vote.

Remember, if we're at/near the top of the Extreme 100 list, we'll get more players in.

What do you think? The main aim is to get people voting, which will bring more people in, we want to reward people who help us do that.

sounds like a good idea The only thinkg i see kinda unfair is that everyone will benifit from this not just the people who vote. What about putting in a 'vote point' npc so we the people that vote can get something extra. Im sure iv seen on a server that i played something like this in place.

Not sure how you'd go about monitoring which people vote and how often, if you know how, please share this info, as I'm lost. ><

ah i remember it was on a wow private server. it was something like when we clicked on the like to vote we would get linked to 2 places, one* to vote and to put our char details in. as its only possible to vote once every 12 hours or so you will able to see if people are trying to cheat the system.

The problem there, is that Extreme top 100 goes from your IP addy and as we don't run it, we can't simply see what IP's have voted, then reward them accordingly.

I don't suppose it'd be possible for us to ask them to forward on any IP's that vote for us, so we could reward them, guess it's worth looking in to, as we now have more time (FFS!).

could you not make the link from the forum give you the ip addtress?? Like you can moniter it and do it yourself. just an idea. Ill have a look around to see if i can find the server i voted on to get the vote points

Is there a way that u could like get a code every time u vote?? It will give u something like a 10 digit code or something .. Jot them down and give thm into a gm go from there dnt kno If it will work tho just n idea

I can't think of anything that would actually work, as I say, the actual site is nothing to do with us, so we can't physically do ANYTHING on their end, I'm wondering about the idea of having a redirect, that would log people's IP's when they click the link, it would record their IP then forward them on to the voting bit - We'd of course have to make sure we only counted IP's that were 12 hours apart, but the problem there is people can click the link and not vote (though for the extra 5 seconds to type two simple words and press enter, can't see why people wouldn't vote).

Either way, we'll have bonus events for everyone if we're high in the numbers, but yes, we'd MUCH prefer being able to reward those who vote for us.

There is a way to this my friend who ran a Mu private server had it. Its toda with coding it into the actual website for the game. Similiar to what you said prov. However i will email him for you and find out how it is done.
