    Default Some MAJOR changes in plans

    Prov and Cerby have been busy! Glad they've been at it while I've been away, as I have some new things to tell them about and apparently they've got quite a bit to tell you lot, after I get through their posts. ^^

    We were originally going for an exp rate between HR and Extreme but Cerberus has brought something entirely new to the table, which makes things very different.

    The idea is that instead of aiming for level 250 odd, like on HR, or whatever it is on Extreme, you'll be going for...Wait for it...500! Exp levels will be much higher than they currently are on HR/Extreme. We're going to go through a lot of changes to make this viable, mainly altering item levels and making sure this will actually work, but all going well, you'll be level 100 within a week.

    All servers have different exp rates, but as long as plenty of time and testing is put in, it doesn't matter, you just need planning to make it work. As we're well aware of the 4b exp cap, we will be planning for that before the server goes live, Cerb is writing tables as we speak and is up to level 450 so far without hitting the 4b cap (which probably won't be an issue, with 2.6 files).

    ReBirth will be much earlier in the game than on most servers, at the moment we're looking at level 150, which will take you back to level 1 and allow you access to new caves/bosses/items. It'll be kind of like how the old Euro days were, that you got to 20 before having to pay, at which time you had played a decent amount of time and learned what the game was like.

    wouldnt it be possible to increase the exp cap, seeing as how the files are being created from scratch you dont have to keep things the way they are on the "****ed up" files.

    500 sounds fine but you are going to have to make items have a huge gap in level requirement, every 20 levels there are new items.

    will 500 be the cap for levels then?

    Doesn't make a difference, whether the cap is 4m or 4b, you just have to adjust the exp required per level and exp gained from mobs... The only difference you'll notice is instead of a hen giving you 500 exp, it'll give you 1, but in both cases at level 1 it would give you like 300%.

    Again, it's just a number... Whether level 100 is the end target or 500, the time estimated to get that level will be the same. Ie if the target level for a server is 250 (like HR's is at the moment) you would have items at say 200/215/230/245 etc, on Evo it would instead be 400/430/460/490 - Hp/mp gain per level will be adjusted so it doesn't get silly and item/skill level requirements will go up dramatically so in reality not much will change (the difference between a low and high rate server, in terms of exp, is a number that will be balanced one way or another - Big hp means big damage, smaller hp means smaller damage).

    I'm not sure if we'll have a cap, I doubt Ren was planning on one and I personally don't like the idea of having it, but we'll see.

    As we have not yet seen the new files as they are still being worked on so far we are going of the basis of what we can do with the current files. That way once Evo is ready we can just copy it all over and it will be a lot quicker for you guys to get the server up. If we plan so that the exp doesn’t have to go past 4b and it works it saves us some hassle in the long run just in case it cant be changed.

    Currently we are in the process of working on items to get a good balance. We are also continually working on exp and time it should roughly take to level. One of the main problems with having a large level cap is the difference in HP you would have so this is where there will be a lot of work done to make sure this is balanced and again Beta players will make a huge impact on these numbers to make sure that the server is always balanced.
    It seems like such a terrible shame that innocent civilians have to get hurt in wars, otherwise combat would be such a wonderfully healthy way to rid the human race of unneeded trash.

    How about you have a level cap, but then once you reach that cap you can get Degrees of some sort at that lvl. Each degree gave you more strength so there would still be something to work for. these degrees would be very hard to get.

    Its like getting your black belt, and you gain degrees after that not more belts.

    I dunno, its just my opinion but I really don't liek the idea of levelling 500 times. I know its only a number, but levelling is tedious enough as it is. I find it better to work for one level rather then loads at a time.

    Also, you will definitely get people moaning at you about "oh, I'm using items 30 levels lower then my level" etc.. You will need to have ALOT of similiar items to add into this

    There was two main reasons behind it, one being that it doesn't put us on such a similar level as HR/Extreme, the other being that you go through the levels much quicker, which is more likely to make people push to level, not sure why you'd feel opposite to that, but you are an odd one. <3

    Yeah that's expected, though it's roughly x2.5 the exp of HR it means the gaps will only be around twice as large as on HR, no doubt that will mean twice as much whining, lol.
