Evo Is Opening Soon!

As title, the new dedi has been ordered, but the communication skills of the hosts rival Jamie's, so we're not sure exactly when it'll be open for us to use (could be a few hours, could be a few days).

The launch will be following a wipe (so Closed Beta testers start back at 1 too), this will be Open Beta meaning the higher level DF's might need tweaking, so please leave feedback so we know what is good, bad and balanced. There should be roughly 2 months of play time until you hit the levels we've yet to test, so in theory we can stay ahead of players and test everything before implementing them.

All going well we should have the doors open for this weekend, assuming I can catch Jamie between him having road rage and banning people, he'll be able to add the server details to the autopatcher, so you won't need to do anything other than run that.

Yup thanks to the amazing testers we had helping us we are very happy with the state the server is currently in and are sure there will be no need for any wipes. Server will launch as Open beta as Prov said and aslong as no Major game breaking bugs are found there will be no rewind. Also one thing i do want to make clear is that anyone found abusing bugs and not reporting them will be banned from Evo for good.

so does that mean that the new files are ready aswell? i would rather not have the server open on the rubbish 2.3 files and then things getting added in to the new files because they could not be added t the old 1s

Ah yes, thanks for that Cerb, one point I missed - Any bug exploiters are IP banned, no second chances, nothing (if you are stupid enough to exploit a bug and not inform one of us immediately then anything you lose [including things you've donated for] is tough ****, to put it bluntly ).

Cheats will be came down on equally as hard, if we're 100% sure someone has exploited or cheated they'll be named and shamed, so everyone can have a good chuckle at their expense.

No, as has been posted on numerous occasions we're launching as 2.3 and will upgrade to 2.6 in future when they're ready. I'm a bit confused by what you mean, we won't be "adding on" to the current 2.3 files, we'll be swapping them, it's not a case of some stuff being added to the current 2.3 ones, it's a brand new game (basically) - Think of the difference between 1.9 and 2.3.

As mentioned before all the Mir Revenge servers will be getting the new files. Evo was going to be the test server to test these files. Once that had been done, Hr, Lr, Extreme will also convert to 2.6

As prov has said it is like a whole new game with alot of new features. However all 4 of the Mir revenge servers offers something different, so it will be a case of which server do you want to continue playing untill the stable files are ready and then once they are ready which server will you continue playing once the files are integrated.

i was just a little bit disapointed because i thought everything had been tried on these files (on our other servers) and there are a few thins that cant be changed (some bugs, deva eg). with the new files will come new skills and spells (hopefully) but it just makes me cringe thinking they are going to be added when people will have surpassed these new skills or you will have to make skills like FF or ?? (cant remember what its called - the snowy 1 thats an aoe) powerful enough to be end game skills and then when the new files come out these skills will either be surpassed or still be the major skills.

it would be easier on me if i new how these new files where going to affect the way this game changes with them - what gets added, what gets fixed etc etc. but then we still have to do beta with the new files aswell.

As mentioned before this server is very different to how people are used to play Mir. Skills like ff etc are higher level skills and blizzard is also a high lvl skill but players still get skills they will want to use to lvl with. As with all the other servers when the new filea are done there will have to be a integration period but that would be expected on all the servers.

The new spells will be very easy to integrate into our files in regards to how we have skills set up now as from seeing the skills on other servers and reading about them, they are allready in our plans for skills, so we have planned our skills around these new skills.

There's LowRate, HighRate and ExtremeRate, but you think there's no place for another server? Look at which server we're replacing, lol.

Without knowing what the new skills/spells do, why are you worried about them being useless for people when they're added? When was the last major patch that added skills/spells that were useless to the higher level people? Everything will either be an improvement of an old spell or be for something else, don't worry about them.

Sorry but I have to laugh at the 'easier on me' bit, end of the day you don't have to worry about anything as you have two fantastic server runners (+ me) who will make sure the work is all done correctly. We'll be opening the gates for Open Beta, as things are going the 2.6 files should be done before we're ready to leave Beta, so we can have a short Closed Beta to test the files then put them on Evo to finish off Open Beta. In any case plenty of backups will be taken during Beta to ensure any major bugs don't result in huge rewinds.

The hosts being as amazing as they are, didn't reply to Jamie's email (he's getting more than one server, not sure if it's to upgrade the others, or just replacing the old test server, as it's weak), so he told them to cancel all the current servers and he'll take his business elsewhere... Not quite surprisingly they then replied apologising and saying it'll be sorted, lol. ^^

It normally takes 24 hours from ordering a server to having access to it, but as he's getting more than one it'll probably take a little longer, he had a reply early today, so fingers crossed it'll be free for us to move things across either tomorrow night or friday, in any case we should be up and running by the time people log on saturday, if we're not up before then.
