I always use Windows Update, though I'm on W7 which is frankly awesome for every driver I've ever needed - Can't remember what XP's like with the website, but worth a try.

Its mostly like your sound drivers - are not working correctly this may be due to following:
You recently formatted...didnt install the sound drive
Virus may of deleted/corrupted your sound driver
You trying installing incorrect sound drive
You tried updating you sound driver
To check if your sound drivers are working:
try loading a music file up using WMP ( Windows Media Player ) It will give you an error box.
You will need to look for the CD that came with your computer which has your sound drivers on usually is called "System Drivers/Software"
Run the CD and install your missing drivers
If you have lost your CD for your computer than go to your manufacturers webpage so if you have a Dell computer go to Dell UK: Laptops, Desktop Computers, Monitors, Printers & PC Accessories and look for the download drivers for your computer.
Hope this helps, was posted on a different forum.

this is from the sound without sound mir cannot play
hope u will get sound card soon
If you don't know the exact driver name and don't know how to find out, use Windows Update, it generally picks things up, if it doesn't then you'll need to find out what sound card you have (means going to [deep thought]; Control panel > computer details > view a list of your installed hardware - Something like that, try the Windows Update site first).

What u need to do is found out the name of your motherboard.. and then go to website and get all the drivers and everything from there...
If it is a old motherboard sound is most likely going to be onboard so should be able to get it off the website...
To find out name of your motherboard either look on box or download a program called everest home edition will tell u everything about your computer...
Any problems drop me an inbox message.
