Server aim – Mob Exp and Level Exp
After reset on Saturday, the exp will be changed radically. Many of you will already understand that there is an exp limit on the amount you can set for a single mob. To avoid future problems (ie, running out of available exp to give higher mobs), after reboot we have reduced the current exp per mob by 90% and at the same time we have reduced the exp required per level by a similar amount (a little bit more in fact!). The result is you will level faster.
We then took the exp required per level and changed that from being randomly wild increases (+20% +30% +50% +100% etc) and changed it to the following
20-35= 17% Increase in exp per level
36-60= 9% Increase in exp per level
61-90= 8% Increase in exp per level
91-110= 7% Increase in exp per level
111-130= 6% Increase in exp per level
131+ = 5% Increase in exp per level
Anyone level 57 on the beta version would have been level 81 at the new settings
As you can see, once you get to level 60 (a few hours work) all following levels will only take a little more work than the level you did before that.
By doing this, we can reserve higher exp for later mobs and bosses and make it meaningful to hunt smaller numbers of harder mobs rather than just lots of lower level ones. This also helps encourage groups as not only will harder mobs have higher exp but group get an exp bonus too
Server aim – Pets
The BDpets are outrageously strong and apart from maybe using them in an event they are too powerful for normal play (they do ALL the work).
Pets will be available to; donators; to levelers; and to token users. Donations will be in the usual way and pets will be cheap with the intention that if you have to log off each night and lose your donated pt it doesn’t cost you much if you do. Some tokens are already available from the 3 day Low rate event and more will drop in game but not in large amounts. The aim is to make pets useful but players will need to do some work to get them.
For levelers, instead of having huge armies of pets (1 @ 40, another 2 @45, another 3 @50 etc) they will be awarded at fixed exp totals earned. They will still form smaller armies and will help players level but will not do all the work, the player will be able to do some too.
By chance, the exp totals that a players gets still means that they will be getting pets at levels 40, 45 and 50 but after that is changes a little. You can still make pet armies, they just won’t be so big as the beta ones. We will review the strength of the pets if needed but they will not be boss killers (WT probably but not heavier duty boss killers).
We will adjust the pet system as required to make them useful but not too powerful.
Server future – life expectancy
There will always be some players who work hard, level fast and cause problems for servers as they get so high so fast the server has nothing left for them to do. Xtreme will aim to give those players a game to play for a few months but inevitably our challenge will be to keep even those people playing after just a few weeks. To that end, we are planning a further reward system that allows higher level players to get around the server faster by using a number of NPCs that will offer higher levels direct access to caves that lower level players will have to run. More on this later too as it is still being thought through.
Server aim – Rebirth
We love the idea of rewarding players for leveling but hate the idea of stealing their HP, MP, class stats etc. So we are going to scrap the idea of losing 50 or 100 levels for rebirth etc and instead introduce a reward system for set levels where higher levels can get access to hunting caves, NPC scripts etc that others cannot. The drops they will have access too in these caves cannot be used by lower levels. More on this soon.
Extreme Caves
The plan for extreme caves will be based around the current caves in game to start with.
when you get to the KR of the current cave there will be an NPC which will allow you to teleport into the Extreme version of the cave, in this extreme version the mobs will be 10 times stronger and 10 times more exp. after reaching the KR of this cave there will be another NPC which will teleport you to an even more extreme version of these caves when the mobs will be once again 10 times harder than before.
this should allow plenty of hunting grounds and plenty of tough mobs for you guys to try and take on(it also means that having extreme kit wont simply allow you to plow through lower level caves but will give you somewhere to actually need to use it.) these extreme caves are also where the Rebirth items will drop. I have an Extreme version of WT already completed and will get BC and ZT sorted tonight and hopefully ill get the invasion script and mobs transfered from the old DB/Files tonight as well if time permits.
