Useless Facts!

Well on my phone i have downloaded a App which gives me loads of useless facts and was wondering if anyone else had any good ones.

a couple of good ones i have found so far.

The phrase "Rule of Thumb" derives from an old english law which stated that you couldnt beat your wife with anything wider of your thumb.

If the population of China walked past you in single file the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction.

A ball of glass will bounce higher than a ball made of rubber.

lol totally useless but entertaining none the less :P

lol i spend the majority of the day on the phone helping resolve issues for people which normal get resolved by telling them to plug the cable back into the Kettle and get the little grey cable and plug that one into the Phone socket and hey presto the internet works again :P or by saying "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"

I like the rule of thumb.

I really can't see how a ball of glass will bounce higher than a ball made of rubber though, I've had some good bouncy balls (hoho) in my younger days, the kind that if you dropped you'd spend a good few minutes chasing, just because it was so damn bouncey. Would be interesting to find out if it's true or not, now if only I could find a ball of glass...

It may be that the fact is a bit lacking in its description - i assume that the bounce balls we used to chase all over the place were probably rubber and some other material. if you ever found one of the bouncey balls after its been outside for a few years - they get considerablly less bouncy lol. so i wonder if in that time the compound with which the rubber has been fused with has wasted away.
