    CERN - Cause for ConCERN.

Man I'm good ^.^. I am normally quite a deep thinker, but I truely believe that the power we can achive on this earth is minute to the power that would be needed to trigger any chain reactions into destroying the universe.

Even if it did, is there anything that we could do about it? They've spent 4 billion building it, after spending all that I don't think they will just look at it and never turn it on.

Sigh... First of all if you check the CERN site it says that they turned it on already waited for the cooling and it would be activated on the 3rd of september (yesterday). We arent dead.

Next, the theory about a black hole forming due to their experiments was put forward by a leading member of CERN a few years back when the first LHC was built (Yes this is the second one, its much bigger). Concerns were raised about the possible dangers, he replied saying "The chances of a black hole being created is about the same chance of winning the lottery jackpot 3 weeks in a row". People saw the word chance and though, oh **** we may die. But what he was trying to say was that its not physically possible.

Finally, the new LHC wont reach its full power until the year 2010. If you want to be concerned about this, be concerned then.

Instead of worrying and reading doomsday posts you should all be quite excited. Why? Well because if they are starting up the LHC it means that their "new internet system" works. What I mean by this is, the LHC generates so much data it would crash the internet if they were to try use it so they created their own network that can transmit data faster than any internet connection ever could. Its faster than a 500MB Connection downloading something from next door. They used fibre optic cables to create a network like the internet except its download speed is literally at the speed of light.

Oh and by the way I did read the entire thing, I just wanted to clear some things up for those doom people who go around scaring people with false logic. Not saying you are one of them, but they are everywhere -_-
