Huge virus coming!!!

virus!
I checked Snopes (URL above, and it is for real!!
Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!
You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message
with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of who
sent
it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the
whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from
someone
who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason
why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts It is better to
receive
this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a
friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.
This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered
by
McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.
This
virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital
information is kept.

i just checked out nortons website (www.symantec.com) and their "threatcon" level is actually set to level 1 (normal)


i've had quite a few spam emails like this one - they dont contain any links to anything dangerous so they end up getting through spam filters - personally i think their like a chain letter - or some geek trying to see how long it takes for his email to be sent back to him.

for example

I send lapta/Nasir/IRCHEATING an email saying

OMFG! Virus warning blahblahblah.virus.lala12345 is doing the rounds becareful not to open any emails containing "lalalardedar" in the subject line. please send this to friends and family to make sure they understand the threat as well.


Lapta then thinks o well i better let people know and then sends it to all his friends and family.

Laptas friend then sends it to their friends one of which might be me completeing the cycle and making me smile



im not sure if there is anything big going round at the moment ( i normally get 25-30 independant financial advisers phoneing/emailing me the moment something like this pops up when its legit and so far theres nothing from them)

so take the necessary precuations and
1)dont open any emails from people you dont know,

2)dont download Attachments from your friends unless you know exactly what they are sending,

3)dont click on any links in emails unless you have double checked the source of the email to verify the link is actually link through to where they say its linking to.



if i manage to dig anything up about a virus on the way ill let you all know

Probably just a tester email from a hacker, they send you an email if you open it they know the account is in use and brute force can begin. Best not to open any email you suspect is dodgy.
