Don't think your lag is caused by your pc. Should be something to do with your connection.

I do as well, but i know my lag is due to my location, so wouldn't have any complaints abt it. You can know between a pc lag or a connection lag. PC lag is like being cursed. Connection lag is things like two steps lag etc.

Dude you need to understand your technology better . Mir will run fine on a low spec PC, upgrading your PC won't make Mir run faster - it will still run just the same (maybe faster when theres lots going on on your screen - otherwise you wouldnt notice a difference).

When you say you have a full signal to your orange broadband, I presume you mean a wireless signal. The signal strength you are seeing is the signal between your Laptop/Pc to your BroadBand router, it does not reflect at all on the strength your internet connection. Therefore the cause of the lag you can safely assume is your internet connection.

You say you have 2mbs Orange Broadband connection but this really does not mean much. 2Mbs only means its the maximum your line can transmit, however the actual speed you have depends on how far away you are from the nearest exchange. If you're one mile away, you might get 2mbs speed, if you're 50 miles away you might only be getting 512kbs even though you have a 2Mbs line.

But the MBs is not the most important factor of your internet connection believe it or not, its your contention ratio that really reflects on your speed and bandwidth. Poor ISP's have high contention ratios, for example a ratio of 50:1, which means effectively you're sharing a connection pipe with 50 other users. Share your 2mbs line with 50 other people and you'll get appauling speeds and lots of lag.

So in summary, if you have a 8Mb Line, live 100 miles away from the nearest exchange, and have a 50:1 contention ratio, no matter what PC you have you'll lag like crazy.

If you have a 1Mb Line, live 3 miles away from the exchange, and have a contention ratio of 20:1 or less, you'll have a very stable line and it would be miles faster than that 8Mb example as stated above.

Hope this helps you understand some things better. As for now goodnight lol

And Omg lol, TalkTalk is cheap but extremely poor service and support. I currently use TalkTalk, it would not work with my Netgear router at all, the connection kept dropping every 3 minutes. I spent a whole weekend speaking to TalkTalk on the phone and got no-where.

In the end I gave up and used the supplied TalkTalk modem. At least it connects but at peak times it runs very slowly and cut's out twice or sometimes more in a day. Very annoying, especially when you're playing mir lol.

I recommend VirginMedia or BT (from previous experience) however I have always thought Orange to be a decent Isp. Depending on your location to the exchange and contention ratio's though, changing your ISP will probably make no difference.
