need some info (laptop)

soz for posting here, figured it be best place to get quick responses/advice :P

well as i've moved out of home,i been on the search for a laptop, this will be my 1st and i have no idea as to which to go for due to no experience/knowledge about em. obviously i am looking for 1 which runs smoothly with mulitple tasks open at once aswell as 1 which can handle mir :P - dnt want any graffix problems whilst playin hehe :P
but yeah...my budget is about 500? hopefully tht is enuff for a decent laptop? i have seen 1 so far which seems ok but would like some opinions on it pls or even any suggestions as to what i shud be aiming for.

tbh that laptop will do exactly what you need it, if you're wiling to go a bit more on price you can get one with surround sound a blue ray disc drive and 4gb of ram with the same 250gb hdd same gfx and same web cam for an extra ?150 on play.com http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/687427...searchsource=0

you might be able to get it a bit cheaper if you shop around as well

PC World [sorry to swear ] Have a really good toshiba atm for ?529 (father just bought one), 120Gb HD, 3GB Ram, DVDR + Lightscribe, Vista Premium (I'm having no probs with Vista and Mir) and easy to use should tick the right boixes for ya

i tested one of these laptops before buying the acer one i have in the link from play.com and for the sake of an extra ?20 the performance difference is immense on vista's own sytem experience rating the acer was a full point ahead if i remember right and it was graphics power that pulled it out front (as it has a dedicated 256mb hd ati card)

the tosh from pc world (shudders at the thought of the place) is a lower spec than the acer in the first post is a higher spec lappy and its cheaper.

the carphone warehouse deal isn't half bad though if that's the kind of thing you're looking for, you could pay ?30 a month for a BB connection alone so you may as well get a free lappy out of it tbh

But the longer you use, let's say like a few months, it started to lag like helllll.... windows startup, opening applications, just whatever you do you'll have to wait longer and longer as times goes on. I would recommend a lower spec toshiba compared to a higher spec acer, even though it's higher spec, but the lag after a few months will make you feel like getting a new laptop, so it's kinda useless having a higher spec that only lasts a few months.

been using Acer 4920G for 6 months now n i have no problem with it its vista too..i upraded to 4 GB DDR2...i have no complaints so far..MIR been working perfectly..all my daily tasks done it as i want to...cheers..

i have an acer laptop thats over a year old and there has been no loss in performance at all from the day it was first turned on. they come with a one year warrenty if after six months its lost a noticeable amount of performance bring it back, or just back up what you need and reformat the hdd
