im back PC sorted.

OMG was it a knightmare.

so woke up friday turned on PC...

msg from microsoft "you need to active this copy of windows"

so i click yeah, get the box up you know the one where u click activate i love microsoft, blah blah blah.

Click the activate button, get the msg "this copy of windows is already activated"

so i'm like cool, try log back in to windows get the same msg, "you need to active this copy of windows", so after 3 hours of this crap i thought *** it, format reinstall. Popped down to maplin, get a "hard drvie docking station" and OMG,this thing is great. It connects via eSATA or USB. I use the eSATA as i have never used it before, pluged it straight in, no drivers no messing around, works straight away, stick in any harddrive in the top of the docking station and it shows up straight away. The transfer speeds are mind blowing, transfered all my backup about 400 gigs to the harddrive in about 10 minutes, maybe less. Any way back to the point.

Go to reinstall windows, and been told by a nice GM that raid 5 is better then a raid10, so i think ah *** it, i'll go for a raid5 config. install windows...

OMG, my pc ran like the server that runs old skool... took 10 minutes to load msn, 4 hours to uncompress a 1.3 gig file... i thought ah it might just be cus of all the old crap on the harddrive, i will let the RAID software do it work and see wat happens.



34 hours later the software finishes realining everything, i'm like mega hard now thinking my pc going to run mega fast, do a reboot...

the ***ing RAID software pops back up "time to finish 54 hours" i'm like *** that, lets do a quick defrag...

Defrag time to finish "14/11/2008" ...

So *** it, reformat...

for who that know, when u get in to windows setup, windows formats the hard drives, nice and simple...

like ***...

7 times i tried to format the harddrive via windows xp setup, everytime i got an error, so in the end i installed windows to a single harddrive, worked fine. Formated the other 3 harddrives, setup the RAID config again, to RAID10, installed windows and here i am now writing a post and restoring my back ups

so the short verison, my pc working now, will be fuly working by morning, will do reboot tomorrow night, not adding nothing major. MAJOR reboot will be friday

Lol Lappy this post made my laugh, however I've been there with computers and it's all unbelievably frustrating.

I know I recommended RAID5, but I cannot be held responsible for your hardware! . I've never had any problems like that, then again I've only used and configured RAID 5 on server hardware... so maybe theres a difference.

Anyway congratulations on getting your PC backup... lets just hope it stays that way!

lol... why always post issues with regards to medium rate in the highrate section? You can either forum pm lapta, msn, or post in medium rate.
