Why The rewind

Why on earth was this server rewound???

So the login gate goes down and a few people are still on because it doesn't log people out in the game.

That's not an exploit of those left in the game.

I carried on and hunted as normal and have now lost a load of exp due to that.

Why aren't we told that if the gate goes down we will get a rewind?

That doesn't happen on High level server as the gate often goes down.
People in game still play on.

There's no rewind there so why on here.

If it was a mistake then will it be put back or why no x2 exp to make up for our loss and the loss of those players who could not log on all over the weekend?

also lapta was not at home when med rate went down so he cant of warned u

normally if gates have crashed and ppl still in game means sever database as crashed. so from the time it crashed nothing gets saved
so im guessing there was no rewind jamie just put sever up from its last save point just b4 gate crashed and if jamie on sever side he can c it so its y he tells ppl on hr some time 2 log off so u wernt exploiting just shame sever was up so long b4 he got 2 fix it and u did all that lvling 4 nothing

was wondering the same thing coz if like gagin said database crashes when gates go down how come items i put in tm whilst it was "Down" r still there but the 83% i did have vanished

tm and 1/2 other things have a diff data base so yer they would be saved but can lead 2 duping items.

Well everyone loves my essays so ill try and keep it short - Gagin is pretty much there really but its a little off.


to start with the database saves itself every 10 minutes from when the server was turned on, If the server Dies and you get kicked during this period you will lose anything that has bene gained during the few minutes from the last 10minute save. (everything is in one database, Multiple tables within the Database, but only 1 )

So to run the Mir Server there are a few different applications that are needed these are:

DBServer - This Connects to the SQL Database, if this fails, the database wont save itself, there is nothing that can be done other than try to reload it and see if it starts to save the Database which would then save everyone who is online - but those that had logged out whilst it was down would end up with a rewind.

Login Server - This is what determines the account creation i believe - is this isnt up then you wont be able to create new characters

LoginGate - this controls whether or not you get the Username and Password Box showing up -
this is closed before reboots to make sure no new users log in

SelGate - This is the selection gate which is responsible for displaying your character when you get past the login screen.

RunGate - this is the gate that allows you to actually connect to the game once you have selected your character.

M2Server - This is the daddy of them all, it Logs everything and unites them all - if this fails, so does the game

So if there is a problem with the DBServer it will need either Lapta or Vicky to actually spot it on the server desktop itself or on the M2server.

So dont Shout at them for not giving warnings some times it simply cant be helped.

Hopefully this post should give people a little more info on which part has failed in the future

is it fair that the the whole server could not get on to lvl or hunt bosses? meaning you had the whole server to yourself? no.

and also the exp bonus was still on, and is it fair if your the only one able to use this bonus for what? 12+hours? not at all

the trust merchant is seperate from the server e.g. jus cause the server rewound, doesnt effect trust merchant.
unless it was lapta that rewound the server, because he would have rewound everything not jus afew things

the sever didnt rewind the db sever crased so nothing was saved but u can still play wile thats down

but the tm and guildfounds (dono about guild store) must be on some other data base 2 rest of stuff as they still save when db sever as crashed
