and what do we do about our storage characters, will items be lost on them?

When you say 'transfer the char', does that include their storage? Or possibly just what's in their bag? If it's the latter, I reckon most people can get all of their valuable items in to their bag, just a bit of a bitch for the people who don't sink all of their wealth in to the kit they use all the time. :<

every thing will be transfered.

the new server files just have differant tables for char items and stuff, so wasnt as easy as i thought
