    Default PvP Characters - Suggestions & Ideas

    Hi Guys,

    Quick Overview:

    You make a new character, you speak to an NPC that checks whether it is the first time this character has ever logged on and that you are level 1.

    If you are, it gives you an option to make this character a PvP Character.

    Once you choose this option, you are teleported to a small PvP Town. Your character's bag is emptied, you are leveled to level 60 and given a full Mir Kit.

    Once here your character can never return back to the "Real Mir".

    There is multiple NPCs in this town. One will teleport you to an empty Arena, or an Arena with 1 person in it.

    When teleported you will be given 1 Water Melon and a balanced amount of pots.

    When there is only one person left the NPC in the arena gives the winner 10 game points and teleports you back to the PvP town.

    There will be a NPC in the PvP town that will exchange Game Points for something, but not items or levels which will unbalance the characters.


    Possible to exchange Game points for Trophy items, cooler looking items but with the same stats as to not unbalance anything.

    More things can be included in this, such as group pvp arenas, pet pvp arenas etc.


    Possible exploit is someone making 2 characters and killing their own character over and over to gain Game Points, trying to work out a way to prevent this.




    Any ideas and suggestions would be welome .

    try get the ip in which they connect 2 server with 1 person using 2 pcs in 1 house will prob have same ip sent 2 log on but since u can open mir loads of times on same pc not sure bout that theres a way 2 do it tho they did that on euro only open 1 client

    I was thinking of IP addresses etc but without going into too much detail, it just isn't possible to script that kind of stuff into an NPC.

    ive been thinking about it trying to come up with a way around it but with that quote in mind, if axesol and me were good mates within game and we have no connection with server information like same IPs or anything what would stop us agreeing to kill each other repeatedly to get the game points to get the trophy items? so not in a pvp way but i stand there and let him hit me while i dont pot and then i do the same to him (or her i duno lol) basically the same with the 2nd characters but with no way of tracing the connection between us. there'd be no way of checking whether or not these are genuine kills or not, short of watching everyone.

    sorry to use your name axesol i was just trying to get my point across i dont mean to imply that you would do such a thing.

    i dont mean to be picky and put a downer on it, its a good idea if you can get rid of the possible exploits in getting the trophy items

    Sent Orphan an ass-load of idea's to make this rather difficult to exploit, the only real way I could think of doing it is one character per level 60+, so if you have a level 75 Warrior and a 60 Wizard, you get two level 60 PvP chars (class of your choice), people would lose 10 points for losing a match and gain 10 for winning, they'd have a low end cap of -100, upon hitting -100 you'd have to wait an entire week (7 days) to use the character in the PvP 'arena' again, at which point your character is reset to 0.

    People who are very often at -100 would be monitored closely for signs of throwing games, random matches could be watched by GM's when people aren't aware they're online, you'd need 100-200 for some of the basic 'reward items' and 500-1000 for the better ones (armour + weapon), so you'd have to win quite a lot of matches in a row to gain these items, thus making it for the truly skilled, rather than anyone who has the time to do game after game after game.

    Yes I read your PM, thanks for your ideas.

    I do not want to include any GM intervention in this, I want it to run itself when it is complete.

    As Shirley pointed out, its very difficult. I cannot make players loose game points after loosing a match.

    I think I'd just keep trophies to a minimal, such as 100 game points earn you a certain coloured name, which changes to another colour after another 100.

    Including pets that you can spawn as trophies in the PvP town (not usable in PvP matches ofc). It will not charge you Game Points, only check the amount you have, so you will continouasly accumlate Game points.

    You could win a small ammount of Game Gold with every match you win, allowing you to purchase better looking "PvP Items" for your character.

    Also make a range of small arenas with different styles to give a refreshing change between each arena.

    I'm using the game Guild Wars as an example of this idea, they have a totally seperate Dedicated PvP section.

    To make things more interesting I'll try see if I can make an NPC that teaches you skills and removes skills, but you can only have up to 4 skills learnt at the same time, meaning you have to find a build or counter builds that work best for you .


    All in all, I dont think I could remove the exploit, but exploiting will lead to no specific advantages anyway, as in the end this would be for fun.

    Ah, if points can't be removed then yeah you're pretty screwed, it's exploitable in one way or another. >_<

    In which case I think shifting the focus (which you seem to be doing anyway, but I like to be crystal clear :P) away from the 'trophy items' themselves and on to the fighting/tactics is a much better way around it.

    In regards to the skills, I think you could alter that to something better... Major and Minor Skills. For example, a Tao with Deva, Curse and Mass Poison will find it hard to lose vs a Wiz/Warr, assuming the Tao has some skill and an okay computer (poison, drop deva, use curse, run in circles until they get fed up or run out of pots). To combat this, give them a choice of Deva, OR Curse, OR Mass Poison. Warriors make strong use of TDB, FS, Rage and ProField (not so much), give them an option of the same thing; TDB, OR FS, OR Rage, OR ProField (maybe combine Profield + Rage in to one, as they're not as big a difference as TDB/FS). Wiz's I guess FW, OR Blizz, OR MagicShield, OR Clone.

    Minor Skills could be basically everything else, it'd be best to give each class a few skills regardless of what they pick though, it's a tough one and will take a fair bit of planning, but I think that idea of a limited number of skills is very good.

    Yea I hear what you are saying, it is also possible to mix skills as well, so you could be a warrior with a secondary tao skill of Heal etc.

    It is easy to script, a lets say a Warrior for example, can have all their warrior skills, but choose 3 wizard skills or 3 tao skills as an extra. Everytime they want to change their skills it clears all the skills not related to that class.

    I'll have to look into the possibilities of this and also the kits/stats that people wear.

    Ooo, that sounds like there's LOTS to play around with, maybe a maximum of 2 Major Skills, they can be from any class, but you can't have two from the same class? Same for Minor, but maybe 3-4 and 2 of them can be from the same class, so 2 random ones from other classes.

    I hope you're aware this leaves endless possibilities and I'm now going to spend the entire bloody day thinking of them all. -_-

    I think I've figured out a way to script it.

    Check Job > Warrior

    Are you sure you want to create a new build? Yes OR No

    If Yes - Clear all learned skills.

    Learn Warrior Skill 1 > Skill 2 > Skill 3> Skill 4

    Learn Multi Class Skill > Tao OR Wizz

    Learn Tao Skill 1 > Skill 2

    Learn Wizz Skill 1 > Skill 2

    In the Warrior options for Skill Group 1, I can list 4 skills and they can pick one to learn, Skill group 2, another 4 skills (only using 4 skills as an example) and the list goes on.

    Would have to work out a strategic bank of skills though to make it fair across all 3 classes. Also all skills learnt will be at level 3 straight away.


    Long ass script but quite easy to do providing all the functions work as planned .
