any stone?

craftlady says you can use any stone to make a gem
i tried to use the a powerstone
then a mc stone to make a dc gem
then a sc stone to make a mc gem
all failed
then i used a dc stone to make dc gem -worked
it might be co incidence
but the crafting has been changed from euro so it might need lookin at.
didnt wanna use up all my ores
