Pking is part of the game - I have no problem with that.
The rules (good post Foxy) do not address pking so its hard for anyone to know what is 'allowed' and what is 'too much'.
If you get into shop fights thats your business - go red, drop your kit, knock yourselves out.
But for those who want to play the game, build their levels and improve their kit, and who do not pk without reason, this post is for you.
The number of people who are leaving because of constant pking at bosses or just in levlling areas is a concern. If 'new blood' is not coming into the game this is bad news for the servers future and will mean that a small number of high level pkers continue to steal every boss and prevent anyone from getting the level or kit needed to challenge them.
GMs only have part of the picture as most of the incidents go unreported other then vague references in leaving posts.
If this is acceptable to Jamie then no probs, if it is not, then I suggest the following. Change the time that pk points take to wear off.
Currently you can pk, get 100 pk points, go yellow for a few secs and then white (and be free of the penalty in two hours), or the moment you are white you can immediately pk someone else, get another 100 points, and stay yellow for 2 hours, then white and so on.
This means that boss stealling pkers can kill 12 people each per day and only be yellow for 12 minutes if they get they timing perfect! No wonder the minless pking happens. I have often heard players say they will pk a few ppl for drops before going afk overnight to wear off the points.
I suggest that the pk points system be changed and for a while the pkpoints take 20 minutes each to wear off. Thats 33 hours rather than 2 for each person you pk. So you could still pk 2 a day without going red but after that you pay a big price.
Also, change the pk points to 99 per kill, rather than 100. That way, someone who has 2 accidental pks does not go red inside the 20 minutes, but a third pk within a 20 minute period would make you red, and for a long time. This reduces the 'overnight pkers' ability to 'pk without penalty' as there is a much longer time penalty. It would also reduce the pking by a very big amount but still make it legal - the penalty just gets bigger.
To balance this, anyone who then tries 'red making' gets a severe ban. Some have been doing this out of frustration at being constantly pked.
That should get the debate started. I rarely pk (unless attacked first) but when I do, I accept the pkpoints as a fair penalty. But currently the penalty is nowhere near enough to stop those who are wrecking the play of others. The time limit can be messed about with but what do you think of the basic idea as a way to address the current problem?
