need help installing mir

my friend has just downloaded mir and is getting this error code when he clicks on the exe

Access Violation at address 004FB060 in module 'mir2.exe', Read of adress 000005A4

also in the mean time try editing mir.ini change
Sound=1

to

Sound=0

not sure if it works or not but found this solution in forum
