    Default Levels/experience idea

    Just an idea...

Is it possible to reduce the ammount of EXP needed to gain a level, and reduce the exp of mobs to the same proportion? Allowing more space to increase the exp needed for the higher levels.

    Like for example

    Now:

    lvl 50 = 10,000,000 exp = 10,000 mobs each giving 1000 exp each.

    Changed to:

    lvl 50 = 1,000,000 exp = 10,000 mobs each giving 100 exp each,

So the the maximum experince setting possible (400m) could then be upped to lvl 150/160++, extending the servers life time.

Cause even now, after lvl 75+ it takes hardly no time to lvl at all, give it a few more months and we'll be hitting lvls 120+, making it really hard for the server to keep up with items, and to keep balance in store.

I Think its possible but it means changing all the levels exp requirements.

Yes Darkmen I read what you posted in Oaks thread, I'm sure me posting this wont interfere with the Xmas event so worry not.

And yes Pow, it would mean changing the exp level requirements, its kind of what I was pointing at to change in my original post lol.

yeah its totally possible, but it would be a pig of a job to try and do, changing all the exp per level is annoying enough but to do it to the mobs in accordence with the drop in per level would be time consuming and frustrating for the people that spent the long hours getting the levels they already have.

if you worried about leveling to quickly for the items that might be available maybe the gap between the higher level items needs to be widened.

to be honest having players over level 100 would be great!

we should add items for them not change the exp people get because of them ^^

the idea is good, but i think the time to implement it is right at the start of a server rather then part way through its life.

by the way what makes you think that 400m is the max exp setting? as far as i know it can be changed well past that, i know when i set up my files i was doing theexp in chunks i changed it from level 1-40 then 40-80 then 80-120, but the rest is still set to the original figures which is 10 times less then level 120 so i guess maybe the higher level exp just hasnt been updated, but you never know i could be wrong.

Yes I thought it would be something like this, well another idea...

To slow down lvling would it be possible to have to attain two "levels" just to gain one level? Like dividing one level into 2 or more sections...

    For example..

    Lvl 75(1) + (2) = 800m exp
    Lvl 76(1) / (2) / (3) = 1200m exp
    Lvl 77 (1) / (2) / (3) / (4) = 1600m exp
    etc etc,

Or maybe introduce this scheme at lvl 80 since no one has reached it yet?

    Or even for more varying,

Lvl 80 (1) & (2) could be 300m exp each, equalling 600m total exp to increase one lvl, etc

What he's saying is, if mobs gave the exact same % of exp at a given level, but then the number is just lower.

What I was thinking is that it has already been done to a small extent. If you notice, when you level up a noob character, one kill gets you one level and not two levels. for the first 7 levels it looks like even 1 exp would probably level you. At some point, in the low level ranges there would be a threshold where you would ahve to make the exp so low that you would be leveling once per kill. This wouldnt be a big deal, but basicly if you're looking at level 100+ you would have one kill per level for 25 levels (an example).

i understand exactly what hes saying and i understand exactly how to do it.

the fact of the matter is we have shed loads of mobs to try and change so someone would have to go through each mob individually and change the exp, which is time consuming and it also means that there wouldnt be any real change because you'd still be getting the same % from the mobs, so the numbers are really irevelent.

what i believe the actually problem is, is the higher level levels are to easy to get through, so all we need to do is find the next level no one has gone through and then make it require more exp.

because if we started to change the exp required per level for any levels that people have already done its unfair as they have already spent that time on those levels.

which is why i said it would be good to implentment it at the start of the server where you have the same chances as everyone else.

Ah I see. I was assuming that there was some issue with the size of the variable for the exp in the original coding.
