Default Potential Vista Fix - Need more people to test..

    Go to C:/programfiles,

Right Click on the Mir Revenge Folder, properties, security tab.

Select "Users(<username>)" and allow Full Control. Then click Advanced and check both boxes at the bottom.

Then go into your MirRevenge folder, Right Click on the Mir.exe. Choose to run it in compatabilty mode for Windows2000 (Windows2000 worked for me, XP I still had problems) and choose to run it as administrator.

The game should now run. If you have a white box where your mouse cursor is, you need to change your mouse to original 2d Windows XP design.

To do this go to your desktop and right click, go to personalise. There you will see an option for "Mouse Cursors", go into that and choose a basic design, that will now work with Mir too.

Other things to try, Windows Vista saftey features could be interfering with the internet connection, causing you to loose sync with the server, effectively lagging you out.

    So.. Things to try:

Turning off your Firewall, Windows and 3rd party firewall (also remember just to use 1 firewall at a time, otherwise that too could cause you problems.

Other thing to try is turning off the UAC (User Access Control) in Control panel. I cant get on my Vista pc atm to tell you where the menus are.

Hope this helps, it sorted my Vista problem anyway.

Need some other peeps to do this and see if it fixes the prob.

I can add screenshots if people need?

Well with further testing I've been able to make my copy or MR lag like crazy, pretty much what you guys said, spiking while running, waiting ages for npc windows to popup, so something Ive done has definatly effected the lag... I just need to find out what it was lol

Alright, after experimenting with many settings like affinities, permissions, UAC settings, visual effects settings, disabling DEP, changing CPU priorities etc etc, the only thing that increases my lag is changing certain files within the Data folder.

Ideally it would be great to know specifically what changes were made to which files in the last update, because apparantly Vista seemed to work fine before it. If I knew that I could investigate the file or a certain group of files that were added/changed in the last update.

Can any GM help me? =x

Nice to hear it worked for someone else

Basically Ive got it running ok, I dont lag when I run, however it takes about 3 seconds for Npc windows to popup buuutt is playable, until perhaps a real fix by Lapta is implemented..

Maybe tomorrow I'll investigate a bit more, but realy I need a list of all the file changes Lapta made at the last update, otherwise I'm just shooting in the dark.
