i think there was a fix for vista released when the auto patcher was last updated, could be wrong but run it just in case

Running the auto patcher didn't work for me so I had to create a partition on my drive and install windows xp on to it. Now I've got no problems.

Can't go in to details of what I did at the moment as I'm not on my computer to go through it. However I will be on later tonight. In the meantime if you dont have windows XP on disk you can download a torrent programme or something similar to download windows XP unless someone knows of a website you can download it straight from. You will also need your driver disks that you got with your computer.

a decent program to create a system partition would be "Partition Magic" im pretty sure there used to be a evaluation version but im not sure if it still exists, so you might need to purchase a copy, i dont actually know the price but i assume its fairly low.

alternativly to create a partition without purchasing any external products you will need to do a format i believe and then create the partitions when installing the operating system.

if people know of a way to create a partition without paying anything or having to reformat a hard drive please do post how too.

If you have vista you don't need to download a programme to create a partition. I will try to explain what you need to do as best I can as I'm not on my own computer at the moment.

    Click on Start
    Click on My Computer
    Go in the Control Panel
On the left hand side of screen should be 'switch to classic view'
    Click on this
    Click on Administrative Tools
    Click on Computer Management
    Click on Storage
    Then Disk Management
You will now see your drive at the bottom of the screen
Right click on it and select shrink
Keepin clicking ok through messages. You should now have 2 drives

1 called C: (this is vista) and 1 called D: (this is empty)

You will now have to install windows XP onto the empty drive. You may also need to reinstall your drivers for your computer.

    Hope this helps.

Digi I'm trying to sort out your problem now. To put your name on log into forum click on the user cp icon at top of page on the left hand side click edit signature then type in what you want and change the fonts and colour ect.........
