I had the same problem in windows Vista when running Mir on the wrong compatabiltiy mode.
At a guess, check your sound drivers, try update them (or all your drivers), un-install and re-install Mir then give it another try

i jsut had this problem lap helped me n yeh its ur sound drivers
Try restarting you're computer, hopefully that would do the trick (That error used to happen to me, but by restarting it got fixed)

becuz tht aint the problem lol, u have to find what sound drivers you need and d/l them, tht is what worked for me.
