Default Forcing people to view the forums.

As a lot of people don't seem to be able to come to the forums on there own and read about all the updates and changes etc, do you think it would be a good idea to force people to read a weekly post with the weeks updates and changes, and at the end of the post, or the middle or somewhere random in the post, put a password, which you need to type to get in to game.

I know it sounds like a stupid idea, but just an idea.

surely its their loss for not viewing the forums????

seems a bit extreme to force a password onto people....

Or spell by the look of it.

    Lol hate you edd .

On subject why not make it part of the sn npc task to find the hidden word , least most people will read then , but I guess people in game would just tell other people so wouldnt make much difference.

    Ahahaha owned edd.

Yeah I think people wud just log on each week skim thru to find the word they need and not actually read anything, and we wud still get the annoying questions in game that are all answered on the forums.

I think the best way would be a new rule, if you ask a gm for information that can be found on the forums then you get a 3 day ban

I like the idea of finding a password for the s/n npc and to get acces you must pm lapta the pw that way it forces ppl to make a forum account and thats a start.

Btw what ive noticed is that some dobkeys really cant read and fail to make a forum account, somewhere at the bottom of your account creation process it ask you to write the name of the server.. Some just read past that and leave that blank lol.

You can't really force people to do anything.. This is not the army, people are playing the game for fun. Rather than threatening to punish people unless they read forums, perhaps it would be better to reward them if they do read it - for example do QA events in game about the latest updates, if it's something that people in game absolutely need to know.

People will always look for the easiest way to find answers, and if GMs in game answer their questions, why should they come on forums to read through a dozen posts when they only have one question? GMs can encourage players to visit the forums by referring them to the appropriate threads if ever they ask questions that have already been answered here. Rather than spending time to program a "password" to get in game, put all the recent updates in one thread and sticky it.
