I am thinking of ordering a new dedicated server for mir.
As we have come to find out,, mir only uses single cores of a mutli core CPU, this bascally means that the 2.66ghz quad core CPU is pretty useless for mir, and the m2server will only ever be able to 2.66 not the 10ghz + that the CPU has to offer.
So yeah you think it would be simple to use order a single core 3ghz+ CPU server, well that wouldn't help, as SQL also hammers the CPU and memory, so i need a quad core CPU any way...
So the option i have at the moment is to order a i7 3.8 quad core server. The problem is they come with a min of 12 gigs of ram, which i not much use to me, and the price differance is quite a bit compared to wat i am paying at the moment.
So what would this mean for mir? Well we would have an extra 1.2 gzh of CPU for the m2server to play with, and if my math is right, that would mean an extra 12 million mobs in game without any server lag
I will have a look around for prices, and try and get a few day trail to see if my math is right before throwing money at a server which isn't going to help mir at all.
