FAO computer geeks i need help :(

I tend to get a bit of lagg ingame even tho i think i have a semi-decent spec desktop even tho its getting on for 2 years old......

im running .......

Windows Vista (home premium 32-bit) <---- Gay I no (if any1 knows how i can get anyfin better for free let me no)
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz
2Gb RAM
Nvidia 8500GT graphics card <------ Again i no its cut down cheap ****
500Gb hard drive <----- not that it matters

Basically ....... iv asked around a bit and iv been told it the graphics thats the problem... something to do with mir running better on shared graphics????

is there any way i can change settings on graphics card to make mir run better or is it something different all together??

It's Vista & your graphics card that's causing you to lag, Windows Vista uses 1.2GB of RAM just to run, you only have 2GB therefore only leaving 800mb for everything else, general desktop processes use 500mb just running idle so that's only 300MB to be distributed between your game & anything else you may be running (media player, youtube etc.)

You can download Windows XP off any decent torrent site and mount the .ISO from the downloaded torrent onto a virtual drive using a program such as Daemon Tools Lite. Gamepot's Mir (and I'd assume this one due to all the custom skins/stats) use a high amount of graphical power in comparison to the older clients (that's not to say they use a high amount in general) so you'd need to upgrade that.

If you can, sign into Gamepot USA and type #fps, move your mouse around the screen really fast and tell me the average FPS you get in a high populated area (it will appear in the top left of your screen)

You can also use a program such as CCleaner to clean out your registry and disable certain programs on start up, that should help immensely, couple that with GameBooster to closer the unnecessary processes on your computer and you should be good to go.

ok im gonna try install xp on pc instead .... just as soon as i work out how 2 do it..... or would i be better upgrading to windows 7?

fps range from 141 peak to 65 minimum (when i get lagg)

did u mean i need to upgrade graphics card??? if so any ideas what i should go for considering i dnt want to spend massive ammounts. would getting an extra 2gb of ram also help?

about to try CCleaner and GameBooster so will let you know how that goes..
